The Opportunity Overview
The University of Oklahoma Foundation seeks an Assistant Vice President for Advancement to lead fundraising and engagement strategies across its dynamic Health Campus, home to seven health professional colleges. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Advancement Officer, this leadership role combines strategic oversight of a comprehensive advancement operation with hands-on principal gift work. The AVP will direct a team of frontline fundraisers while serving as the primary liaison between the Foundation and Health Campus leadership, ensuring alignment of fundraising priorities with the institution's bold vision for excellence in medical education, research and patient care. The position offers significant autonomy to design and execute integrated advancement strategies in partnership with colleagues across OU campuses and Athletics.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned advancement professional with progressive fundraising experience, including substantial work within academic health systems and comprehensive campaigns. This leader brings demonstrated success in soliciting principal-level gifts, deep technical knowledge of complex giving vehicles and a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams in fast-paced, metrics-driven environments. Equally comfortable presenting to boards, negotiating transformational gifts, and analyzing fundraising data, this individual combines strategic vision with tactical excellence and thrives in collaborative, complex organizational cultures where impact is measured and ambition is rewarded.
