The Opportunity Overview
Boise State University Foundation is seeking an Associate Vice President to shape the strategic direction and provide operational oversight of central fundraising and engagement efforts. Reporting to the foundation CEO, this position leads key areas including corporate and foundation partnerships, annual and planned giving, alumni relations, sponsorships and signature events, with a focus on strengthening the philanthropic pipeline and advancing institutional priorities. As a member of the leadership team, the AVP aligns development and engagement strategies, sets goals and performance metrics, and ensures effective execution through data-driven decision-making and industry best practices. The role also maintains a portfolio of major gift prospects, personally managing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, while collaborating with university leaders, faculty, development staff, alumni and external partners to expand philanthropic support. Additionally, the AVP supervises and develops a team of professionals, fosters cross-functional collaboration, manages external vendor relationships and budgets, and promotes a culture of philanthropy across the institution, requiring strong leadership, strategic thinking, communication skills and a proven track record in fundraising and relationship management.
The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraising leader with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent (master’s degree or higher preferred), at least eight years in advancement and a strong background in major and planned giving, corporate partnerships and alumni engagement. They are a strategic, results-driven professional with a proven ability to cultivate donor relationships, lead high-performing teams and execute effective fundraising initiatives. This individual brings excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills, along with proficiency in donor systems, and demonstrates integrity, sound judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities while building strong relationships across stakeholders.
