Director of National Development and Director of Development, Colleges of Art and Architecture & Design
Belmont University
The Opportunity Overview
Belmont University is seeking two high-impact development roles within its Advancement division: a Director of Development dedicated to the Colleges of Art and Architecture & Design and a Director of National Development focused on building and managing a nationwide major gift portfolio. These are compelling opportunities for seasoned frontline fundraisers to expand philanthropic investment in priority academic areas and strengthen Belmont’s donor pipeline as the university advances their ambitious campaign, Hope Transforms: The Campaign for Belmont University.
The Director of Development, Colleges of Art and Architecture & Design will serve as the dedicated fundraising leader for two distinct academic areas, partnering closely with the deans to translate college priorities into donor-ready opportunities and advance donors from cultivation through solicitation and stewardship. Managing a major and principal gift portfolio, this fundraiser is expected to secure commitments in the $50,000 to $5,000,000+ range and to coordinate strategy with Corporate and Foundation Relations, Planned Giving and Annual Giving to ensure outreach, proposals and stewardship are aligned and moving. Ideal candidates will bring a strong track record in frontline fundraising, demonstrated success closing major gifts and the judgment and presence to serve as a trusted partner to senior academic leaders while driving clear portfolio movement in a campaign environment.
The Director of National Development will build and manage a nationwide portfolio of major gift prospects, traveling regularly to cultivate relationships and secure gifts in the $50,000–$500,000+ range while helping widen Belmont’s pipeline for future leadership-level support. With full ownership of strategy, pacing and documented next steps, this role is built for a fundraiser who thrives in a metrics-driven environment and can coordinate seamlessly across Advancement to move donors through the giving cycle. Competitive candidates will bring three or more years of development, alumni relations or related experience (higher education preferred), strong communication and donor relationship skills and comfort operating with goals, forecasting and consistent activity expectations, along with the flexibility to travel and execute across multiple regions.
