Clemson University is seeking dynamic, results-driven Directors of Development to lead major gift fundraising efforts for two of its academic units — the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business and the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences. This opportunity for seasoned advancement professionals to play a pivotal role in building private philanthropic partnerships that fuel academic excellence, elevate student experiences and shape the future of education at a nationally recognized R1 university.
Reporting to Clemson University’s Development leadership and working closely with each College’s academic partners, the Directors of Development will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors ($50,000+), while aligning fundraising strategies with the Colleges’ strategic priorities. These roles will manage a portfolio of prospects and donors, deepen philanthropic engagement and serve as trusted partners to faculty and administrative leaders.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree and possess 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, development, sales or alumni engagement. Preferred experience includes higher-education or complex non-profit fundraising with a demonstrated ability to secure six- and seven-figure commitments. The strongest candidates are tenacious, proactive and driven by outcomes — professionals who take initiative, embrace challenges and focus on solutions. They are comfortable managing a portfolio, motivated by goals and metrics and adept at building meaningful relationships that advance institutional priorities.
