The Opportunity Overview

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is seeking a highly impactful and strategic leader for the role of Chief Development Officer/Associate Vice Chancellor (CDO/AVC). The CDO/AVC will have the responsibility of driving the future of philanthropy at a leading institution, leading all major giving and annual giving staff/teams on the UT Health Science Center campus in the division of Advancement. This position will play a pivotal role in advancing the health science mission by managing a portfolio of top-tier prospects and working closely with the Vice Chancellor and the AVC of Gift Planning and Principal Gifts to build meaningful relationships with the institution’s highest-level donors. You will travel significantly to lead efforts in major gift fundraising, from identifying and cultivating prospects to securing transformative gifts and providing exceptional stewardship.

As the CDO/AVC, you will also have the opportunity to lead and elevate the major and annual gift teams across the division, ensuring their success and fostering a culture of collaboration and efficiency. You will work closely with all development units to streamline and enhance their efforts, empowering your team to achieve ambitious fundraising goals. This role offers an exciting chance to join the Vice Chancellor’s executive leadership team, where you will help shape the vision and strategic direction of the Advancement division, positioning UT Health Science Center as a nationally recognized leader in philanthropy. You will also collaborate with key stakeholders across the campus to drive initiatives that will modernize and enhance the fundraising operations, maximizing efficiency and growth.
